RULES & RESPONSIBILITIES

SAFETY FIRST
  • Follow the procedures and verbal instructions for fire and lockdown drills.
  • Students enter and exit through the main door.
  • Students required to let Mrs. Sinner or myself reason for visit. If no teacher is available, student waits or returns later. This includes all students sent by classroom teachers.
  • Keep floors and areas between tables free of belonging and garbage.
  • Push in chairs.
  • Food is not permitted.
  • Walk.

RULES
  • Students are not permitted in library without teacher or staff present.
  • Permission must be given directly from Mrs. Sinner or Ms. Field to borrow any library materials, books, or technology.
  • Follow instructions from all teachers and staff.
  • Use appropriate and respectful language.
  • Keep your hands to yourself.
  • Be honest and accountable.

RESPONSIBILITIES
My responsibilities as teacher librarian at Central Middle School are:
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming library environment.
  • Teach students information literacy skills.
  • Provide information resources and tools and support research goals.
  • Acquire materials that support the curriculums of PTHSD.
  • Foster an appreciation for diverse, topical, and quality literature.​
Your responsibilities as students in the Central Middle School library are:
  • Choose to follow the library rules & procedures.
  • Demonstrate respectful and attentive behavior and participate in learning activities.

PROCEDURES
  1. Give pass to Mrs. Sinner or Ms. Field and let us know your reason for visit.
  2. Ask Mrs. Sinner or Ms. Field for permission to take any materials, books, or technology out of the library.
  3. Put your belongings on the shelves in the lab.
  4. Be considerate of classes and other students who are working.
  5. Take care of library materials and keep the library clean.
  6. Push in chairs.
  7. Use your student id to check out books.
  8. Sign out.
  9. Exit through main door.

STUDENT LIBRARY PRIVACY RIGHTS
  • You have a right to privacy when searching for information and/or borrowing books.
  • We will not share titles of books or research questions without your permission.
  • If teachers or parents request information, we will ask you to directly communicate with them.
  • Be aware of the terms of district USE OF TECHNOLOGY and COMPUTER USE AGREEMENT that are required of students in the Parsippany-Troy Hills School District. Here are the links to each:

Mission Statement:
To teach students how to find information, grow an appreciation for literature, and protect every individual's right to free expression. Our highest priority and proudest achievement is in providing a welcoming, safe, tolerant, and comfortable space for the whole school community.
